Betws-y-coed - Local Mountain Bike Routes
Betws-y-coed is home of the Gwydir Forest with miles of forest fire trails, single track and quiet roads. The area is characterised by hilly terrain and often rough surfaces, ideal for mountain biking. Further afield there are lovely quiet lanes and tracks with fewer hills and climbs. There are several family friendly bike trails closer to the coast and we can offer transporation and maps on one of our self guided rides.
Most mountain bikers coming to the area come for the Gwydir Mawr and Bach and Penmachno trails ( Maps ).These are purpose built, signposted trails consisting of forest fire track and single track. Their grade are both red but with any bike trail there are easier and harder sections. We can help you decide the best sections for your skill and fitness level.
For the less adventurous we have devised and mapped a series of local routes on roads and tracks often taking in local cafes or pubs. These range in length and difficulty and include Sarn Helen to Dolwyddelan, Tours of Llyn Elsi , Llyn Geirionnydd and Crafnant. Why not try one of of Self Guided Cafe tours using one of our electric bikes, see our self guided tours section for more information.
