This is the 3rd shortest ride on our list, it is not a flat ride so will require some effort in places.
There are no flat easy rides in this area as the village is at the bottom of a valley, any direction out of the valley requires riding uphill.

Route5 Photos

The first 1km as you leave the village is on the road this is unavoidable unfortunately. The first 200metres after leaving the road are the toughest as this is steeply uphill, after this things improve.

Once the initial climb is completed the ride joins the Roman Road Sarn Helen which takes the rider down into the Lledr valley. Great views from the top of this ride and an interesting riding surface, don’t be tempted to ride through the puddles if you cannot see the bottom, some are much deeper than they appear. From the Lledr valley the ride rises into the Forest above the Lledr valley towards Penmachno but turns North into a fast descent through the forest. Eventually joining a quiet single track tarmac road towards Betws.

There are no shops or cafes on this route.

Duration depends on fitness levels and the size of group. Large groups tend to move slower.
