3 Lakes,  Favourite day ride for Ebikes

Three Lakes Llyn Geirionydd, Llyn Crafnant and Llyn Elsi. Only very fit riders should attempt this on a non Ebike. This is a Big Day ride, most suited for Ebikes. There are 4 big climbs which the Ebikes handle very well. The final climb is very steep. Only very fit riders should attempt this on a non Ebike.

The ride out of Betws is on an uphill single-track Tarmac Road, normally very little or no traffic.

The first lake (Llyn) is a sporting lake for swimmers and paddleboarders. From this lake there is a big climb up and then down to Llyn Crafnant. On Llyn Crafnant there is a café which is normally open at weekends during the Summer.

This lake is circumnavigated, at the far end there is a short distance on a footpath where the bike should be pushed. After riding around lake Crafnant there is a big climb back towards Llyn Geirionydd on the same track you arrived on, but not returning completely to Llyn Geirionydd.

The route now crosses a cattle grid and rides off through the Forest. Eventually reaching a quiet Tarmac Road which leads down to the Ugly House (Ty Hyll) café on the A5. The next 300 metres have to be ridden on the A5 (There is a pavement for walking if required) before entering the Caen y coed Car park.

Now comes the steepest and long climb of the ride, eventually reaching the final lake Llyn Elsi. From here it’s a long Downhill ride back to Betws.

There are 2 cafes on this ride although the Llyn Crafnant café opening times vary immensely. The Ugly house café is very interesting which is on the A5.

Duration depends on fitness levels and the size of group. Large groups tend to move slower.
