Route 4 – Sarn Helen Long
Favourite day ride for Ebikes
Description of Ride
This is the extended ride of our most popular day ride (Route 03), it is not a flat ride so will require some effort in places.
This is a circular ride full of surprises. The riding surface varies from smooth to challenging but the challenging areas can be walked if needed. The scenery is tremendous and varied, involving 2 forests, an ancient Roman road (Sarn Helen), Riding up a beautiful River (Lledr) valley into a very quiet little known valley where Sarn Helen continues.
Then forest and open moorland below Moel Siabod and a tricky rocky descent down into Capel Curig (Can be walked). The ride is finalised by a lovely roll down a quiet wooded single track road back into Betws.
Half way around this circuit there is a Spar shop with a Costa Coffee express machine and outside undercover seating. Three Quarters of the way around the ride you arrive at the Ugly House Café which is worth a visit.
Duration depends on fitness levels and the size of group. Large groups tend to move slower.
Bikes come equipped with Spare Inner tube /repair kit and map. Please return after use.
Garmin Satnav is available for hire to make navigation easy or a GPX file can be emailed if you want to use your own bike computer or phone
